Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The House of Representatives (DPR) will soon summon Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Minister Fadel Muhammad over August 13`s arrest of three Indonesian fishery and marine resources officers by the Malaysian police.
The House would also summon Director General of Fisheries and Marine Resources Supervision and Control Aji Sularso over the same issue, member of the House Commission IV Sudin said here on Sunday.
In the incident, the Malaysian police aboard a speedboat reportedly opened fire on an Indonesian patrol boat carrying the Indonesian fishery and marine resources officers.
"The Commission IV will summon Fadel Muhammad and Aji Sularso to account for the incident. After this recess, we will summon them," Sudin said.
The legislator from the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP) said what the Malaysian police had done was a form of humiliation of Indonesia`s sovereignty.
"That means that Malaysia has underestimated us. Who is Malaysia? We are better than Malaysia," he said.
He also lashed out at the statement by Aji Sularso that the Indonesian patrol boat was not equipped with weaponry system and was afraid of the Malaysian patrol boat.
"It was an excuse to justify and defend oneself," he said.
